Summary

Major General Sargeant was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Vice President for Strategic Development for The Marvin Group in June of 2012 after retiring from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of Major General. With over 20 years of senior executive experience in all aspects of military and commercial aerospace operations and operational testing in organizations ranging in size from 200 to 160,000 personnel, Mr. Sargeant’s experience and background is leading MTS’s growth as a global leader serving military, aerospace, and manufacturing organizations.

Background

Major General Sargeant’s focus is to position MTS, a vertically‐integrated aerospace test and measurement company, as the preferred provider delivering domain expertise and a customer‐centric approach with long‐term, unrivaled support. He is directly involved with the MTS customers, ranging from the U.S. Armed Forces and their Allies to global aerospace and manufacturing firms, ensuring the company’s customized test solutions meet customers’ mission‐critical requirements.  

Prior to leading MTS, Sargeant most recently served as the Commander of the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC) at Kirtland AFB in New Mexico. In this role, he reported directly to the Air Force Chief of Staff regarding the operational test and evaluation of more than 76 major programs, including the Joint Strike Fighter. His responsibilities included the evaluation of acquisition programs valued at more than $650 billion, across 12 locations. He also directed the activities of more than 850 personnel. As a member of the acquisition community, Mr. Sargeant coordinated directly with the offices of the Secretary of Defense and U.S. Armed Forces Headquarters while executing realistic, objective and impartial operational testing and evaluation of Air Force, coalition and joint warfighting capabilities.

Prior to his assignment at AFOTEC, Mr. Sargeant served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the United Nations Command and U.S. Forces Korea at Yongsan Army Garrison, South Korea, responsible for interacting with the ministers, chiefs of defense forces, and ambassadors of 26 countries.

Before his Korean assignment, Mr. Sargeant was the Commandant of the USAF Weapons School at Nellis AFB in Nevada, and commanded the 8th Fighter Wing at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea, and the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke AFB in Arizona. He served in numerous joint and coalition assignments including Deputy Chief of Staff of Strategy for Combined Joint Task Force 7 and Deputy Chief of Staff, Strategy, Plans and Assessment for Multi‐National Force ‐ Iraq in Baghdad where he supported 36 countries. Mr. Sargeant also served in various positions in the Pentagon, including military assistant to both the Deputy Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Defense, and he was the Deputy Executive Secretary to the National Security Council in the White House.

Mr. Sargeant was born in Defiance, Ohio, and earned his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1978. He holds a master's degree in business administration‐aviation and a master’s degree in aeronautical science from Embry‐Riddle University. He is an experienced public speaker as well as a command pilot with more than 3,100 flying hours. He is a member of BENS, CFR, NDIA, AME, AFA, AUSA, AAAA, ITEA, and the Harvard Alumni Assoc. Mr. Sargeant also serves on the EXCOM and Development Committee of the Bob Hope USO Board of Directors serving the Greater Los Angeles area.
